Description:This 1947 Van Pelt custom logging pumper was owned by Snap Logging in Fort Dick, California. The truck is at this ranch in Medford, Oregon, 20 miles north of the California-Oregon border, five minutes from Exit 19 off Interstate 5. Fortunately, the truck sat out the Timbered Rock Fire in 2002 at the Elk Creek ranch because the fire was stopped a mere mile and a half from that ranch's north property line. In summer of 2006, when it was brought to the Medford ranch, it started under compression. The throttle linkage stuck, and no one has had time to tinker with correcting the sticking throttle linkage. The brakes didn't work for that move in 2006; the clutch did. Down on the Medford ranch, this truck isn't critical for fire protection, and as is rather apparent, no one has the time to tinker right now. The truck is available for inspection, and specific photos or serial numbers can be furnished upon request. The Van Pelt chassis number seemed impossible to locate when a Van Pelt historian asked for it earlier this year. If you know where to instruct that it be found, we're happy to email it to you. 1947 Van Pelt Custom Pumper For Sale: $2,900 |
